To commemorate the organization’s 25th anniversary, the founding members and alumni of Northeastern University’s (NU) Barkada is establishing the Northeastern University Barkada Scholarship. The NU Barkada Scholarship will aim to support students who: are members of the NU Barkada Club, have demonstrated leadership, and have a financial need.

It is our hope that through this scholarship fund, student leaders will be able to ease their financial burden as they balance their academic, familial, work, and organizational leadership (NU Barkada) commitments.

We are proud of how much this organization has thrived and grown over the years, and the lasting impact it has made on so many student members. To continue this legacy, we hope that you share our pride and ask for your support by making a tax-deductible contribution to create and sustain this fund that will ultimately benefit our current and future leaders.

About NU Barkada

Northeastern University’s Barkada began as a small group of Filipino/Filipino-American students who aspired to have their culture recognized at the university. They wanted to have an organization that united people who embraced Filipino culture and wished to spread it through cultural, educational and social activities.

With hard work, dedication, and the aid of their then-club advisor Scott Quint, Barkada became an official NU organization on January 26, 1998. Throughout its years as an established student organization, NU Barkada has grown to become a bigger family than its founders had ever imagined. However, the organization still holds true to the guidelines and values set forth by its founders and continues to build upon their strong foundation.
